Mobile-friendly or death

Google updates mobile-friendly ranking factors

Four weeks ago Google announced that new mobile-friendly ranking factors will be added to its search algorithm. The new factors will come into effect on the 21st of April, 2015.

That means:

Unless you make your website mobile-friendly you will get punished in the mobile search rankings.

Google and says:

“This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results.”

Zineb Ait Bahajji from Google’s Webmaster Trends team was quoted saying that the mobile-friendly update will have more impact than the Google Panda and Penguin updates had.

While we can’t be sure exactly how significant the change will impact rankings, we do know that the Panda and Penguin updates hurt a lot of websites. if your site is not mobile-friendly, you need to do something about it now!
